A little information about us: In 1998, some brave and enthusiastic families in the North Fulton Metro Atlanta area joined with a mission in mind; a mission to fill a void in this northern suburb community for a conservative synagogue, actually at the time, for any kind of synagogue. After several community meetings to confirm interest and to organize, the North Fulton Jewish Center Congregation Gesher L'Torah was born. Congregation Gesher L’Torah, meaning Bridge to Torah, was the perfect name. Not only were the roads in our area including the word bridge but also because we wanted to build a link with our Jewish religion, culture, and community. More affectionately, you will often hear us called GLT. In 2008, we were going strong with over 100 families and started the project for the building we are currently in and call our home. In 2009 our building was complete and we were opening our doors to families in the area. Our preschool program is like no other around, we offer a half-day program filled with loving, passionate, qualified teachers to encourage your child's growth and love for learning. Rebecca Gordon, our Education Director, has a top-notch Religious Program. It is designed to have a unique hands-on curriculum that creates learning and a love for Judaism within the individual child. Our Judaics curriculum is divided into grade levels to meet the needs of each child. Each grade level has material that focuses on Jewish Values, Relationship with God, Torah, and Israel. Our Hebrew curriculum is divided by level and grade, allowing students to learn Hebrew and Prayer at their own pace. We offer family programming, Women’s Learning, Sisterhood events, Men’s Club, holiday programming, religious services, yoga, events for middle and high school students, and let’s not forget the toddlers! Sis & Moon's is a shop where local artists, makers, and beautiful-thing lovers unite. Our shop features curated items from both new and vintage sources. Chris & Wendy Vogt founded Sis + Moons in 2012. Having much success and with the exploding growth in Downtown Alpharetta, in 2017, we brought in friend and new partner Alyx Korner. Her expertise in retail and hospitality has been pivotal to our success. The Vogt sister’s grandparents, George and Miriam owned a hardware store in Schaumburg, Illinois for over 35 years. It was the meeting place for the community on any given day. Our best lessons were learned from quietly observing Gramps & Gram's interaction with their customers. From seeing our Grandfather place his hand on a customer's shoulder while explaining how to install a screen door .. or how our Grandmother would bake every Wednesday and bring in those goodies on Thursday for all the people that worked for them. Here at Sis & Moon's those traditions live on. We have big shoes to fill but we know our Grandparents would be proud of us. The exact bell that was on their front door now hangs on our door at the shop. And when that bell sounds we are reminded of our Gramp's & Gram and how they treated each of their customers with kindness and respect. Our hearts are filled with gratitude. The Georgia Hunter Jumper Association is a non-profit organization whose goal is to promote education and awareness of the Equestrian Sport. We focus on junior involvement and membership cooperation in the horse show world. We are currently planning the first annual GHJA Educational Festival to be held at Wills Park June 8-10, 2020. These experiences culminate into a worldly atmosphere, the perfect local dive. For lunch and dinner, enjoy our wood-fired pizzas, salads, Italian sandwiches, handmade pasta, and an ever-evolving menu of Italian small plates and seasonally-inspired dishes. The name Minnie Olivia Pizzeria was chosen to honor “Minnie Olivia Dodd,” daughter of James Madison Dodd and Sara Ann Dodd. This couple owned and operated the Dodd Hotel and surrounding flower and vegetable gardens, where Minnie Olivia Pizzeria is located, until the 1940s.
